Our Services
Our team is committed to offering you leading edge technology that consistently delivers improved quality, speed and economic value for the professional and print community.
Pre-press
Prepress is the work that is done to turn digital files into printing plates. Traditional offset printing uses digital files that are turned into film and etched on plates. Prepress for digital computer to plate (CTP) technology bypasses this step. Prepress services are part of the service we provide to keep you looking professional, and must be performed to ensure that your job prints properly. If creating a print ready file is beyond your capability, we can take almost any digital file and prepress it to make it print ready. Need help?

File Format
The file formats we accept are: psd, tif, bmp, jpg, indd, ai, eps, pdf from the following design programs: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator and CorelDRAW.
PDF Formats
We prefer all artwork be sent in PDF format using the PRESS QUALITY setting. Using this setting embeds all fonts and images ensuring your artwork’s integrity. This allows us to process your files faster. If you have any questions regarding files specifications please email prepress@artex.com
Resolution
All bitmap images sent should have a minimum 300dpi (dots per inch). Images downloaded from the internet are usually at a resolution of only 72dpi and print poorly.
Bleed
A bleed simply means that there is printing going right to the edge of the paper. When that occurs, bleeds must be incorporated into your file. Please make sure your artwork has at least .125” of bleed. In addition, ensure all your critical type is at least .125” inward from the crop area (type safety). This will ensure that the finished product will not have type cut off and will be evenly spaced.
Border
Please allow 1/16” cutting tolerance around your card. We recommend no borders due to shifting in the cutting process.
Fonts
Where possible fonts should be embedded or converted to outlines. Some programs don’t allow either options so fonts must be sent with the artwork.
Colour Mode
All colour artwork should be sent in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) colour mode. If pantone colours have been used, we prefer that clients convert them to CMYK as well.
